What scares my cat?

Easter is coming! Unfortunately mother nature doesn’t seem to have got the message. I got up this morning, stumbled to the door with my usual lack of grace and opened it to let the cat out. It’s a morning ritual that only the cat enjoys. He starts yowling about 5 a.m. and keeps it up until I let him out. Some people have an alarm clock – I have the cat. But back to my point.

This morning, when I opened the door, my poor cat took one step forward and then jumped backwards a whole two cat lengths. This took me somewhat by surprise, since Jeff is not a cute and dainty little cat. There is very little that scares him, even the neighbourhood dogs give him a wide berth. He weighs in at twenty two pounds, and has more attitude thatn most teenagers. So I looked out to see what had scared my big old tomcat. Imagine my shock. Snow! Half a foot of soggy, wet snow had appeard overnight, covering everything including the tulips and daffodils that had poked their heads out of the ground. I’m not a happy camper!

You see, I live in the Okanagan Valley which is supposed to be warm and sunny with a very termperate climate ( for Canada). Snow in late April is a definite no-no. One of the major reasons I have for moving here was that I was tired of the cold snowy winters in Northern Ontario. This is just not fair! So here’s my idea. I’m boycotting the snow. Yup. I’m just going to ignore it until it goes away. What do you think? Will it work? **sigh**

Well at least I have Easter to look forward to. I sure hope the Easter Bunny has snow shoes!

Ugh, snow in mid April. That just seems so wrong. Poor you and your cat. Does the Easter Bunny scare him too?

Poor Jeff! Poor Anne! Think of it this way - with the weather being so bad, you have no excuse not to stay inside and write. :-)

We're not having that problem here in south Texas. The high has been in the 90's all week, about 10 degrees above normal.

Hey, Anne. If it makes you feel any better, here down in the Lower Mainland--the really warm, balmy spot in Canada--it's been freezing cold. Way below normal.

But if you've got snow up there, does that mean you get to spend extra time curled up with your computer?

LOL Jennifer! No, the Easter bunny doesn't scare him, but he wishes it would bring more cat treats and less chocolate!

And yes, Gail and Kaylea, I'm indoors writing this morning. Somehow, cutting the grass and all those other spring rituals have been put off until... well... whenever the weather decides to cooperate!

More chocolate!

When Kathryn was little, she was at an egghunt and saw a rabbit... she chased the rabbit yelling at it to lay her more eggs. She was convinced if she could just catch the rabbit, she wouldn't need all the eggs that had been hidden. :)

I hope you have a lovely Easter.
