While a few of our Wild Writers were away on a tropical island last week pampering their muses (I'm still so jealous!), I had a pretty good writing week myself.I got two glowing reviews and found out Cover of Darkness won first place in The Heart of Excellence Readers' Choice Awards. And, No Turning Back came in second to it. I was pretty excited about that. I got several e-mails from judges congratulating me that said how much they loved the books, so that tickled me pink.

Weeks like that don't happen very often, at least to me, so I cherished it :) Of course my family thought it was great, but they all wanted to know about the bottom line. Is the award going to sell me more books? No idea. Can't hurt though, right?
My question to all of you is, are you more likely to read a book that's won awards? Or, do you only look at a new author if their covers catch your eye or a friend has recommended them to you?

That's great! Congrats! It looks like you had a week of joy too. YAY!
Um... awards aren't really a consideration when I'm decided whether or not to purchase a book. If it looks good, I buy it.
Though, I am more likely to go check something out if a friend has recc'd it to me.
Congratulations on the amazing reviews. But then they're amazing books.
I confess I'm a bit of a cover slut. If I like the cover, then the blurb gets read. Like that, then the first page....
I don't tend to read reviews, but like Saranna, word of mouth is a big thing with me. :)
Wouldn't it be great to get all the WGW girls together sometime?
BTW, going to RWA NY? :) So, you know, I can hug the stuffing out of you?
