Getting Back on Track

Getting back on track has been slow for me.

I've only written in spurts and then the chronic fatigue bites me in the butt and I have to go and take a nap. This is not the way to get my projects finished.

In my mind, I've at least determined which ones come first. But they're all needing to be finished right now.

So, I'm asking what y'all do when you have more than one deadline looming over your head.

Hugs and thanks for the suggestions!

I know what you mean about writing in spurts. My thoughts feel like they're weighted down with a heavy fog.

What do I do? I step away from the computer. Drink a cup of coffee. Maybe watch something on TV and try to unwind. Sometimes it's all the noise in the background that's distracting me. If so, then I hide away in the garage (We have a desk out there.) It seems to be a focus place for me. My kids call it the Lost in Thought Cave. lol

Take Care,
Karen

I'm the queen of 'to-do' lists. I write down what I want to get accomplished (usually weekly) and actually seeing it on paper motivates me to do it. :)

Tambra,
I got sidetracked with an eight week bout of Parvo Virus B19, so I'm going to say tuned and see what others do to get back on task. My car's been sitting on a siding while everyone else is speeding by. I just can't get my muse to jump on board. :)

I have so much to do it's scary. I try and plan as best I can. How many pages or words I have to do a week or day to finish by the time. If something is due november 1. I give myself the pages per day that will make me finish on October 1. Doesn't always work but some times it does.

Thanks, Katie!

I'll sit down and write a list.

Hi Madison,

I'll combine Katie's list with your word count suggestion.

Thanks!

Hi Kzren,

Thanks for stopping by and posting.

Your cave sounds like a great place unwind. I think you're right about just going to another spot to work helps tremendously. Our local Panera Bread never fails to work for me.

Come back and see us!

Hi Ginger,

Thanks for stopping by and visiting. I believe I'm getting some good advice from the writers posting.

Maybe if I can physically see what I have and a timeline in front of me I might feel more in control. Not sure, but I'm going to give it a try.
If I remember, I'll post what's worked.

I hope you find some suggestions that work for you, too.

Hugs,
Tambra

So sorry to hear you're not doing so well, Tambra! That heinous bitch Stress, has a heckuva lot to answer for, huh?

I tend to do what Madison does. I have a nifty little Excel spreadsheet that I designed which lets me plug in words written, final wordcount, my deadline etc, then tells me how many days I have left. I update it daily when I've got a deadline, and it tends to keep me on track.

Hope you find something that works for you!

Hugs,
Maree

Hi Maree,

I think getting into the writing routine again will help.

I used to keep a stenopad by my computer to write down my word count. I'd feel guilty if I didn't reach my alotted number.

I'm off to do edits and then the work more on the sequel to Cowboy of the Night.

Hugs,
Tambra
